Calhoun's on the River

Calhoun's on the River sits at 400 Neyland Drive on the Tennessee River, between downtown Knoxville and the University of Tennessee campus, close to Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena. The restaurant is part of the Copper Cellar family and is known for ribs and casual Tennessee fare, but its second floor operates as one of the larger restaurant banquet facilities in the city, seating up to 400 guests with panoramic river views and access to a private outside deck facing the Henley and Gay Street bridges.

A smaller downstairs room seats up to 30 for more contained gatherings, and the dock lets guests arrive by boat — a regular occurrence on football weekends. Catering comes from the restaurant's own kitchen, which keeps per-head costs lower than standalone venues requiring outside vendors. It is best for large casual events: company parties, holiday gatherings, reunions, graduation dinners, and game-day group functions.
