Living History Farms is a 500-acre open-air museum in Urbandale that rents eight distinct facilities. The Learning Center is the largest, seating 156 or holding 330 total; the Flynn Barn seats 160 with room for 280; the Church of the Land seats 130 for ceremonies; and the Murray Conference Center handles meetings of up to 55 seated. Outdoor options include a gazebo and the Flynn Mansion porch and lawn, each accommodating around 180.
Pricing is unusually transparent for the metro: minimum rentals run from $500 for four hours at the conference center to $1,350 at the Learning Center, with additional hours from $125 to $337.50 and 10 percent discounts for members and nonprofits. A nonrefundable 50 percent deposit books the date and applies to the final bill.
